ABC of the Apocalypse - Igh'zon, the Saviour
I remember feeling my body stopping in mid air. The shock of the destruction of our planet made me, at first, not notice the pain I was feeling in all of my limbs.
At first.
Slowly but surely, sensations began to unravel.
I wasn't the first one to scream, no, it was someone else in our group, but in all of that white nothingness I couldn't see who it was. An unholy choir, every scream from our mouths was akin to an enraged animal, a blasphemous beast pleading for mercy to its lord.
The light subsided slightly and through it's opaqueness a vision came to our eyes once more, explaining our hurt but gripping at our guts in realization. Tentacles where strangling our arms and legs. Eyes were looking at us. Eyes and tentacles.
With exasperating calm, we were all brought up to what looked like a wasp's nest with the mouth of a sea urchin. A beam of light came out of those cracks in the porous surface and as minds clouded by pain entered it, that storm seemed to dissipate.
A booming voice spoke in our heads, introducing itself as Igh'zon of the billion arms and million eyes. It had come for us. To save us. A fail-safe humanity had planted into the stars oh so many eons ago, hidden by the shadow of the moon, the same moon Adronar had consumed days ago. that was its cue and now it was here.
We felt at peace, but we knew we couldn't stay.
The journey wasn't over yet.
