We all know of The United Treaty Organization, a union of a dozen giant (Mesos) species, and the Rynar Collective, the UTO's long standing enemy set in
hetzer's amazing story Integration. But there were other independent powers in the galaxy mentioned on his old codex too. One of those being the Balashu-Felosen Concord that caught my intrigue and imagination. It made the lore feel so much more alive to know there were other powers, and to read about them was to delve deeper into the unknown.
Only problem? Hetzer never finished their official entry or the Felosen's on the old codex. Lunatic Tir stepped in to help edit the race's profile from the original world anvil version, but the Concord still remained incomplete and wanting an updated "spicier" redux for years. Until now! Here's part 1 of 2 of these two species which I hope you enjoy.
Special thanks goes to
retroinferno for their feedback while I was making this noncanon codex. Retro and
piershey have already completed their UTO codex redux focusing on the Integration timeline (2018 CE), so check it out now if you've haven't already!

Hello, again, GreenChess53. The Balashu are an interesting species. I like how their first contact with humanity is, 'Oh, hello there, little fellow. Get in mah belly!' Then, they slowly learn that 'Oh hey, these little dudes can pack a mean punch.' It can lead to some interesting stories, like the kind of buddy cop movie where the two cops don't get along. At all. Then, as they learn more about each other, they come to respect each other more.
Hetzer's race definitely intrigued me enough that I felt they were worthy of having a slightly more fleshed out history. I decided if they participated in the Annelid War, but weren't present for the Rynar War, it was because they feared incurring the wrath of the Collective if they meddled in their affairs.
But choosing to abstain and be neutral when there's an awful war going on has its consequences. And those consequences were never being properly introduced to humanity, and thus perceiving them incorrectly as much as a hungry 300 ton bear could. That misinformation spread. They honestly believed humanity was some kind of joke at their expenses, some UTO propaganda, and incensed they weren't allowed to eat them.
But after the Annelid War, most of them who were reasonable, could see the error of their ways and fell into depression for ever thinking people were food. I definitely love your comparison, maybe the Balashu warrior and human marine deserve a story? One where after living and fighting together they became firm friends?
