Acornfiles Surly and Raymond
And yet here we have yet another Acornfile picture, this time featuring my squirrel Raymond and Surly from the Nut Job 1 and 2. This time the artist is none other than Davi Pandor

Like always, it is time to know more about the lore according to me of many awesome characters out there. Be aware maybe the acornfiles might have a name change, especially with the introduction of the upcoming chapters and new characetrs into the series. You shall see :3
Acorfile Series: Surly Squirrel, aka the Heist Trapper.
Surly’s background on my series.
Surly Squirrel was a normal squirrel that was born in the park in the middle of a city. That city’s name was Oakton and the park was named Liberty Park, and just like normal squirrels, he was taught about recollection of acorns, seeds and other food. He also had his own ideas of wanting to get more even from the humans, but he was advised to not mess with humans, as they were labeled as dangerous.
Despite that Surly at a young she, managed to sneak his way into the human food and the crumbs they left. They found delicious and loved the idea of keeping it to himself, after all he got them all by himself, so why he share it with anyone? Those were his initial thoughts.
However, one day, a huge hurricane came into the place. In Surly words, the sky turned into a terrible black color and the wind was fast, ferocious and deadly. He was going into the refugee when he spotted the tiniest little rat hanging from a branch holding for his life, but the wind currents were too much and he was swept away. Surly then came to his rescue, and saved him, but during the rescue he got knocked out by a debris and it was the turn of the rat to save him.
When they hurricane passed and Surly woke up, he noticed that the blue rat was with him, safe and sound. He never spoke of what happened if any at all, but Surly took an instant liking into the rat and named him Buddy. Ever since then, they formed a brothership bond, that they both thought it would last forever. And they needed it, as the familias of both were lost during the hurricane, leaving them both orphan. It was when Surly more than ever had to take care of both, even with the coming of more animals into the park… and still doing their heists of stealing food, from the humans.
Oakton Heists
Surly was responsible for many adventures and misadventures in the city of Oakton, including first destroying the food supply of the animals that used to live there, ending up in their banishment and planing a heist on a local nut shop as it contained the biggest quantity of acorns and others seeds. Unknown to them that shop was a facade planned by some human robbers to empty the money in a bank reserve. The events led to a final fight with raccoon, leader of the park animals, and both apparent deaths.
When the conflict ended, Suely and Andie, one of his love interests, became the new leaders of the park and found a new way to keep the food supplies for them and all animals on the park.
However, their new food supply was short as an accident caused it to be destroyed again, and even a new menace destroy the park itself. After a huge turnabout of events, finding new parks to live with no success; join forces of with a colony of white rats from the city, and even fighting with the humans responsible for the destruction of the park.
After all their events, they thought that the hardest mishaps were done and that they could finally enjoy a life of scavenging food and even some mini heists from the humans… but it was far from over.
Unexpected break up and recruitment.
One day, during the events of the Sciurus war, they began to heard the report done in televisión about what happened in another city called Townsville. While at first they shrugged it off as another of the humans reports of war among themselves, Surly heard it was the work of squirrels and praised them in his minds for actually taking a step up.
Everything in their life continued as normal, until one night…
That night he saw that Buddy was not on his bed, and he was looking at the starry sky that illuminated the park alongside its street lamps. Surly wondered what was on the mind of his best friend… but he refused to to talk about it, and it was not a shocker as Buddy was not one to speak of. But he also noticed a white rose on his paws, but unlike other rose that one had a faint glow on it. He trusted his friend would be all right and that they could talk and work it out as they always have done…
But the next day, was the day that changed his perspective of the world forever…
First, he saw that his best friend Buddy was gone alongside Mr. Feng and his colony of rats, but Andie found the note saying life… the only word. At first, Surly interpreted the note as a form of saying that Buddy and Mr. Feng went to look for a new life… and he was devastated that his friend just abandoned him like that. He could not understand why… but he decided to leave it be. Andie tried to support him, but Surly just mentioned he needed some time for him and to maybe plan another heist, to have his mind occupied. Luckily for him, they all heard about a certain a nut festival and he thought it would be the perfect chance to get a huge stash of nuts and to forget what happened.
That said, the nut festival was actually a vendetta plan from the humans they defeated during the past heists, and while they did fall in their trap… it was actually for the best, at least for Surly as with that action the humans wanting a vendetta on them all, were killed by Jerome.
And it was after that, when they were offered to join them, even on behalf of Surly, but none of them accepted, not even Andie. But Surly did, and with the rage and sorrow he had for Buddy leaving him, he also decided to do the same with his other friends and even love interest… not only the promises of acorns entice him but also he hoped he would leave his past life, as it was filled with people that left or betrayed him… even Andie refused to go with him.
When he returned with Jerome, he met with a bunch of squirrels, and that included Crossarious and his brothers and sisters. Jerome said he was able to bring him and possibly make him join the Crimson Acorn as he seemed to be a smart squirrel and he could unlock hidden potentials just like them. Crossarious did saw he would be able to use the Rutilans Matter, and gave him a White Acorn of hidden potential, and Surly was able to feel a certain power inside him, but he was not sure how to use it how even train to even do what he witnessed with Jerome, but the others told him they would help him on his new training and explain everything he needed to know.
And that was how his new training and life started…but even before that, he heard the rumors of a white mouse stealing information from a laboratory and he needed to see if said mouse was Mr. Feng, and probaboy buddy was with him, but upon investigating the place, he only found another mouse and that was his first contact with trying to use his own abilities, but he could not, but again was impressed yet again from the abilities of Friederich and the what the Sciurus could do.
The Crimson Acorn Sciurus Era.
During the Sciurus War on Earth he was assigned to the special spy squad of Agent S and Secret squirrel, thinking he could work together with them in the plans and information gathering. Being the fast learner he was, Surly was able to understand the new technology from the Sciurus in no time and even embrace his new status as a spy and gladly wanted to learn how to become a secret spy like Secret Squirrel and Agent S.
After the Farinam world, he was able to bring his girlfriend with him, even if by force and slowly tried to get her to accept the new life as a Sciurus. It was when it was revealed about their purpose that he wanted to convince Andie to still spend time with him and live their new life with him… seeing there was no way out and she could not help her comrades anymore she decided to finally give in and accept to become a Crimson Acorn member.
Surly was happy that he could finally enjoy the new life at least with someone he could trust, but still he remembered Buddy and Mr. Feng… sometimes missing them.
Relationship with Raymond.
Raymond was one of the main squirrels that Surly wanted to learn from, after all, being the last member to join the Crimson acorn, meant he had to put his all on learning and do his best, but curiously enough Raymond told him to take things a bit calmer, as the key to a great attack was to focus and have a clear mind.
He noticed that while Surly was so eager to learn, he had some unfinished business inside his mind and such thoughts clouded his mind and would not allow him to use the Rutilans matter, so he had to let it out what really was on his mind at the time, share it and just let it go.
Surly, never had such talks with anyone other than Andie and Buddy, but those were exactly the thoughts he had. The fact that Andie joined, but mostly out of obligation since she would not be able to get out, while he trust her, he still had doubts that she joined the Crimson Acorn just to live with them. He was not sure how to deal with her and her situation.
The other thought was more of feeling rancor and betrayal with an old friend of his, for Buddy, and Mr. Feng who left them all with just one word in a note. He always cared for the blue rat, he was his best friend, his brother, the one he always shared and did everything together. He could not understand at the time where he failed and he blamed himself for his disappearance…
But Raymond told him whatever happened it was not his fault. Everyone deserved to walk a path that they thought it would be be the best for them, and that his friends maybe did just that. Despite the Farinam World, he was sure many escaped the planet before they completed the ritual… he was sure they would probably meet again.
Surly would love to think that, and even wanted him to join them… but still he could not get the thoughts out of his mind. For that Raymond, told him they needed to work on that first and how channel such thoughts into more positive ones.
As time passed, Surly spend many time not only with Raymond but also learning from Secret Squirrel and Agent S the ways of the spies and how important it was to have the courage to enter the most dangerous places and how to be stealthy enough to not be seen… during those trainings he also shared his own thoughts and wondered how both had the focus and the clear mind to use their own Rutilans matter, after all he heard they pretty much ate their own comrades when Crossarious used this Modicum world on them all.
Both claimed, it was because they needed to thought more on the new path before them, and sometimes sacrifices needed to be made, if not they would be stuck on their own monotone life and doing nothing but stooping incompetent villains. Ever since Friederich contacted them, they were always getting ready mentally that when they carry out the Crimson Acorn plan, it might result in them fighting their old comrades. They understood that Surly had to do it fast and on the moment and that is why he was so filled with doubts… but they were confident he would be able to sort it out, thanks to the their mentors. They highly recommended that he talked it out with Raymond and fight with him to let it out…
Surly was curious about such methods but he allowed some time to pass and to clear his head. When that happened he asked for a sparring lesson with Raymond. The Divine Squirrel saw a new determination on his eyes and he accepted thinking he was ready for an actual training session.
Raymond used his own personal Rutilans matter which was to create rocks and even use it on physical attacks that cause a huge damage even when they seemed like normal punches. Still he was able to dodge the attacks but also his relentless attacks, until he got one hit and almost knocked him out. When it did, he started thinking again about all that happened until now, even thinking about Buddy and Andie. From their determination about the thoughts about them, Surly was able to dodge one last attack from Raymond, before he finally focused on his own Rutilans Matter and created a pair of acorns. They were black colored and then launched them at Raymond creating a bunch of iron chains that restrained Raymond… however Surly quickly got tired from the use of his Rutilans matter.
Raymond praised Surly for finding his own Rutilans matter and while he quickly broke free from the chains, he knew it was a step in the right direction. Also he seemed to have his own form of matter being the metallic creation one. He told them to use for the role he was about to take not only as a spy but as an informant of the Sciurus. Surly was thrilled to have found his own Rutilans matter and that maybe could use it for his heists, it was a strange sensation but so satisfying.
From there Surly worked to create forms of restrain, trap and hinder the opponents, and thanks to the metallic creations he makes. He also learned from other Sciurus who created metal objects how to control it and from Raymond how to make them more durable, sharper and also turn them into tools for different situations. He and Raymond shared a close bond out from the training and for being the second one to share everything he felt, including the situation with Andie.
He still hold hopes that he would find Buddy on his travels… he just knows he is out there and he will find them.
Here im this picture is one of the cooperation sessions from Raymond and Surly, working on new form of teamwork, including restraining enemies with Surly’s acorns while Raymond attacks the target. It was strangely relaxing to both to just hit things with their abilities and physical prowess. Also Surly is hiding an acorn behind Raymond’s one, you could say he is like the acorn bait for attacks :3
Did you ever think thought that Surly would become this kind of squirrel? :3 i surely did see his potential
Also as a side note, the size of squirrels and sciurus might vary, but Raymond and his brother and sisters like to be humble and not always tower over the rest of the squirrels. That is why Surly is taller than Raymond here. :) After all size, size ain’t everything except when you use it properly.
