Perhaps you remember my first try at making more LARP-y kind of weapons compared to the boffers Amtgard uses. They looked...alright. And served their purpose in Canada at FE for sure! But they were made entirely on my own and in a bit of a rush. So this time I decided to get some help from the parents and also take more time to do this.
The biggest initial change was the use of a Router to both cut the grooves for the fiberglass core and to do the edges. This make them rattle less when the two halves were closed together and also made the edges much less bumpy and jagged. Which does look nice for a Skaven blade but its also about 4 times more annoying to paint than these were. As these did not have hundreds of tiny ridges and divets in the blade where paint would just not go.
The next big change was, picture not here unfortunately I'll put some progress pictures up when back from Drachenfest, coating them in white plastidip rather than black. This made them far easier to paint for sure. Especially the yellow! It finally worked yaaaaay. So in future I will likely always be doing that as god it was so much better. The blades themselves as you can see were painted black and then the sharp edges silver. Trying to make them all uniform and pretty as befits a Chieftain of Scruten!
The clan and Skaven symbols were a snag however as we painted the blades black which meant yellow was a no go. You can see the attempt at that on the lil knife on the bottom there but to make them nice and uniform we went for as simple as we could. Get the symbols into photoshop, send them to costco to get them printed on nice paper, cut them out, and glue them on. Before Mod Podge was applied over them all to hopefully have them last!
Heading to sleep now for Drachenfest we shall see how they survive!

Fingers crossed that they hold up to some rough housing, and I wish you a great time!

Appreciated! And for the watch too. Unfortunately, I was not able to use these at all. A Ref disqualified them without touching them at Drachenfest. It was very saddening.
