Hornets are pretty cool creatures. Every summer some make nests hanging from the ceiling and shelf in my outhouse. I don't know where they go in the winter, maybe they just die.

They do. ;-; That is how bugs generally work though.

My stoop is a waspnasium, with three different species building nests. I like to watch them work ever so diligently through the glass. Wasps are much more common than hornets down here, though.

I was not aware that there was a difference between a wasp and a hornet. They look pretty much the same to me.
