Windows ME? There's your problem. Get XP if you want an OS from the same time period that works better. It's the same version, but not as buggy.

I actually had an XP and it got me through the better part of 6 or 7 years, I miss it.

Odd thing is, I had XP on my laptop for a couple years because the school's tech team didn't know Vista well enough to put it on and for the longest time I was having video card issues with yellow polygons stretching to infinity when playing games. Since the laptop has a Windows Vista sticker on it, I upgraded to Vista on a whim and those problems went away. I'd put Win7 on, but I'll wait for Win8 next year. But I hopefully should have a strong desktop system by then. This Laptop's showing it's age.

aww poor old laptop XD I never really play games on the comp so I guess I never notice any problems with it.

It's not just for games. Some of my Photoshop and 3D projects don't have enough RAM or GPU power to support the detail I want to work with. I nearly failed my final college project because my laptop couldn't handle the thousands of polygons I was planning on using as exploding targets. I had to shorten the length of the video and only use one target. I also want to get a Graphics card that can do the 3D effect like in Theaters.

ugh yeah, 3D stuff is really heavy D: that would definitely be a problem. You'd probably need a really good comp.... I'm really happy that my new comp is able to handle all my big photoshop stuff. back when I had my XP, i just used a really old version of PS, haha.

I am definitely getting a 5core CPU (6 if they have it) and max ram plus whatever the best graphic card is at that time. If I'm upgrading, I'm ditching my tricycle for a Jet.

Did you make sure your graphics card is able to support the tablet? My cintiq worked with XP and Vista. There are some features that can't be used on some GPUs like flick scrolling and view rotation in Photoshop CS5.

I had a friend that was adamant on the fact that Windows ME was alright once you had made all the updates. But then he installed XP... :)
