I let out a mournful sigh, and as I gathered my things, I reminded myself that she was probably invisible. As I drove to campus, it dawned on me how much I yearned to meet the creature that stalked me, even if it would cost me my life. I knew how foolish that desire was, of course, but my curiosity had gotten the better of me and so I had to see this through to the end.
Then, as I parked my car, I received another picture.
It showed the creature sticking her head out of my bedroom door in a sort of playful way, and seeing it, I felt a profound sense of relief.
I hadn’t put her off.
She hadn’t left.
She was still following me.

That's right. And in my expanded lore (which I developed with the permission of the original author of SCP-1471), MalO's are symbiotes/parasites that feed off of interactions. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people infected with SCP-1471 don't want to interact with them all that much. My novella then explores what might happen if a human host not only willingly interact with their MalO, but seek out more ways of interacting with her.
