Hedge-witches are closely related to, and sometime synonymous with the pellar, though usually it denotes someone who does not make themselves available as a craftsperson, they may or may not have other work, where as a pellar is presumed to make a living from being such. Hedge-witches are usually solitary, and often shunned or treated with suspicion, but known for their magic, though it is often blown out of proportion. They are considered potentially dangerous, but with skills in healing, survival and tracking. Travelling pellar will often commune with local hedge-witches for local knowledge and information, particularly on the whims of the druids and wildwoods. Some but not all pellar make use of the hedge-magic the witches make use of, which takes the place of diverting wild magic through objects into an intended target. While pellar are often the subject of stories where in they save the day, dispelling evil spirits or disarming angry druids, hedge-witches are more likely to be the villain of children's stories. Despite this they are still often sought out for aid, and have a tendency to be considered jaded and unsocial, if not outright rude. It is a difficult life, and most hedge-witches have less than pleasant reasons for becoming one, rather than taking an adjacent path, which adds to the dark mystique of their kind.
