I love the... I dunno if it's a trope, but the concept of a huge, burly character that's actually incredibly well-read and intelligent but is generally considered dumb because, due to some context or circumstance, they don't ever show that side of themselves. Like, this guy could be hunting down poor bastards in a labyrinth somewhere for his day job, but when he hangs up his weapon for the weekend, he stretches out on his couch and reads him some philosophy.
Heh, i like that setup.
And i can totally see him being a educated and well-read person that basicly "lives" in a gigantic library that has books about all and everything in the world be it new books, old books, really old books, ancient books, magic books, etc.
Plus that he is always the "quiet" type, who answers more with gestures than with words but still knows the answer to almost everything you ask him, and if he doesnt know it, he knows the book where he can find the answer.
