Whether they be human or otherwise, Dawnbringer operatives are expected to be able to operate in a wide range of environments, many of which include large population centers. Rural engagements are preferred, but they rarely happen on such ideal terms. The HERMES Standard Combat Field Dress (SCFD) was developed for low-profile operations while being standard-issue for field teams. The suit originated under Unified Colonies of Sol's Whitestar Program, which aimed to develop a concealment system for their non-human members to appear as normal civilians. Although the project was not originally intended for military use, the prototypes would enter Blue Horizon possession and would evolve into the modern HERMES suit.
Although numerous iterations have been made to the HERMES SCFD over the years and will continue to be made with advances in technology, the base concept of the uniform remains the same.
The current iteration of HERMES suits possess the following characteristics:
- Ballistic Fiber Coat – Lightweight nanofiber coat with non-Newtonian gel layers, capable of resisting close-range handgun and medium rifle fire.
- Armored Deflector Plates – C-101-reinforced Altorium plates, capable of stopping high-power rifle rounds and can integrate a personal shield system.
- Shield Generator (Optional) – Backpack-mounted device that projects defensive energy barriers, though performance varies by emitter core type.
- Tactical Augmentations – Various augmentations including an AR holovisor with night/thermal vision, comms earpiece, and optional disguise field generator.
modifications may be provided and applied depending on the mission profile.
-Light Exoskeleton - An exoskeleton powered by a battery in the wearers backpack, it vastly increases the user's strength and allows them to lift much heavier weaponry than they would be able to use on their own.
-Gravity Gauntlets - A pair of gravity emitters inside the HERMES suit's gloves, which are capable of manipulating the gravity of certain objects and allow for them to be indirectly picked up or launched.
- Modular Attachments (Optional) - Additional attachments may be requested by the user and implemented by a licensed technician to fit various mission profiles.

Xefri and it's supposed to be the same gear that Ember tends to wear. It does raise the question of why Ember doesn't have the extra armor plates or exoskeleton, but I can imagine he probably just wears it underneath his gear. I had a lot of inspiration for the design, and I quite like the coat I came up with because it makes a lot less generic, even though I don't imagine all HERMES suits look like that.
Even with some of the stuff I'm going to post from Rhinoking, this is actually the newest portrayal of the HERMES gear. I've changed it quite a lot since I got that artwork, and this will likely be the general appearance going forward.
