This story is based on a picture by 
ChaosCroc , Monument of Failure (Hence the similar title) http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3625910/ . The picture depicts Renamon petrified. This story is a possibility of what she is thinking and how :)
The story borrows some ideas from previous stories of mine that can be found elsewhere, in that the still-concious statue "sleeps" and "dreams".
This was put on dA about six months ago with another story also based on a Croc pic, which depicted Kari and Gatomon as gold statues, but it was more focused on Kari so for now it's not being uploaded.
