Xhea performs a burial rite for his youngest sibling, Miyra—though there is no body to bury. Only memory. Only absence.
He does this alone. Away from the others. Away from his brother.
The rite is simple, sacred, and old: two spiraling lines etched into the dirt, each crowned with a stone. One for each of Lignamira’s twin suns—symbols of balance, time, and the ever-watching, unblinking eyes of gods. The ritual is meant to bring symmetry to the grieving. But here, that symmetry is broken.
Miyra was taken—sacrificed to a god that ravenously devours time as it spins the planet in its mandibles. Her death was only witnessed by him, nor would the others fully understand what he saw. The others grieve with Kovren—who still hasn't processed her absence—but Xhea steals away to apologize alone.
The spiral pattern endures, but its purpose rings hollow. A third stone rests outside the ritual’s form, quietly embraced by Xhea’s tail. It has no formal place… yet it belongs. It marks what’s missing. Not just her, but the shape their trio once held. What remains now is imbalance. Silence. And a sorrow too heavy to be shared.
-Lignamira and all that lies therein belongs to me
