It was a tough time for The City. They called it a recession. An economic downturn. There were even whispers of a depression that would spread to the outer regions. For some it was a harrowing time. Cutbacks needed to be made in every area of life in order to get by. For others it was a time of opportunity. To use the downturn for their own advantage. Reoku that Catboy was such a person.
It really wasn't his fault that he was addicted to stealing. Whenever he saw something shiny that belonged to someone else, he craved it! Desired it more than anything. He'd been called a Magpie by some for his unique trait. Wallets were some of the first things Reoku had learned to pilfer from people. It was easy enough to throw his weight in against someone in order to disorientate them just long enough to dip his hand into their pockets and take the wallet inside.
For Flash the economic downturn had not hit him, or his partner James that hard. They were living in a fairly nice part of town. Their house had long since been paid for by a dear friend of theirs. They had even had a couple of run-ins with Reoku in the past. The Catboy knew all about the Skunks' good fortune. He figured that they wouldn't miss a wallet or two right? What did they have to pay for? They had it made!
Well sadly for Reoku his skills weren't that to steal from Flash and the Catboy found himself in the awkward position of being close to a Skunk's rear end after being caught in the act.
"D'oh... this isn't going to end well..."
Here's a wonderful birthday picture for a good friend of mine. One that I've had the pleasure of knowing now for almost four years now, ReokuKurosai! His birthday was on the 8th of July and I knew I had to get him something by then, preferably a couple of weeks in advance as I had a few other birthdays around the same time. Thankfully Cappuccino, being the helpful/awesome/amazing artist that she is opened up for a couple of sketchmissions around the same time I was looking for an artist.
I already had the idea for the picture before I saw that Cappuccino was open. (hint: always have an idea before you get in contact with an artist) Needless to say I, and Reoku were both very pleased with the end result. It was hard holding the picture back until his birthday, but I managed, almost. I gave him the picture a few days before as he was feeling a little down. Happily, it cheered him up just like I intended.
So enjoy one and all this picture of Catboy and Skunk respectively.
