While, aesthetically, this piece doesn't quite float my boat and won't knock the socks off most anthro art fans, it was an attempt by me to revisit the usage of calligraphy-style brushes in concert with other art skills I had picked up in the latter half of 2024 - Call it an art study.
I used that American Psycho promotional photo of Christian Bale holding a chainsaw as reference - I omitted the chainsaw as it wouldn't fit Pina much - Melon would be more appropriate.
In using the photo, it helped me to better understand how to draw shading, seams and the geometric creases that occur with formal clothing and uniforms - it's easy to shade something amorphous and lumpy like a sweatshirt or hoodie, but clothing like blazers, slacks, button-downs and the like can be more difficult.
After practicing shading with this piece, I have been able to better work proper shading into the pieces I have done since beyond basic shadows and wrinkle lines.
