Diamond Snake and Vixen - Inkey-Blue
A bit of a backstory about this idea in general.
On my first year, 2020, I posted four stories. Only one of those was an idea I did by myself from start to finish, the other three were suggestions. While my fourth story posted, I always considered that one my first story and for years, I've wanted to work on a story with the same character as that story, Vixen. I grew up with a lot of Hero media and one includes the Justice League cartoons, which introduced to me some heroes that quickly became some of my favorites. One of them was Vixen, hence why I chose her as the star of that tale. I remember being so nervous about the story that after I posted it I took a break of a few months and didn't came back until 2021.
One thing I wanted to do was try another Vixen story and after years going between ideas and things that I feel could work, today I finally reached this goal. Here it is, a story that has that heroine and two of my OC's: Diamond Snake, as you can see in the drawing, and Sir Viperfang, a new villain that I created after that one off character from the first story.
Just like the recent Diamond Snake drawings, this is the work of my good friend Inkey-Blue who once again, did a marvelous job. If you want to see more of his work, I reccomend you see his DA page. Down below I'm leaving the link.

Anyways, if you want to see how Vixen ended up in that position, read the story down below!
The deal was almost completed.
Sir Viperfang examined the contents of the briefcase silently, checking that everything that he requested was there. While he wasn’t widely recognized in the United States compared to some criminals, the villain with the snake motif had already built a fearsome reputation back in his homeland of England. That was enough to spark interest from several criminal groups, with one being interested in one of his genetically modified snakes. The group’s leader claimed it was for an upcoming operation, but the British man could tell that the interest was related to the gems that were on the snakes’ body.
Normally, Sir Viperfang wouldn’t have considered selling one of the snakes that was still in the testing process as he didn’t want to give one of his clients a creature that didn’t reach the state he wanted, but for this one, he made an exception after reflecting on how poorly he was doing with his tests. Nonetheless, he still asked for the same steep price and added the information they had related to some heroes and villains they crossed paths with. As all his demands had been met, with the leader coming alone with only two goons, the villain with the snake motif was pleased with how his first negotiation in the United States went, he put down the briefcase and extended his hand up.
“I think we have a deal,” the British man calmly said as the one he was doing business with shook his hand. All that remained was for him to deactivate the cage’s security codes and let Diamond Snake out so his new owner could see him, but he stopped as he sensed someone else was there. His helmet, apart from looking like the same creatures he had an interest in, could sense heat and motion and as he looked around the place, it was clear that they were not alone. “We are being watched.”
The men he was doing business with were skeptical. This city wasn’t like Gotham or Metropolis, so encounters with heroes were very rare. To them, that sudden reaction looked like he was backing out of their deal and considering leaving the warehouse with both the snake and the briefcase. However, what they didn’t realize was that Sir Viperfang was telling the truth all along as before the goons could intercept the British man, the one who had been watching them all this time revealed herself.
“Having a meeting without me? Hope you don’t mind I come without an invitation,” Vixen said after dodging the attacks of the two goons. Her presence took everyone by surprise, she didn’t live in that city and yet, the heroine known as Vixen made an impromptu appearance. Her reasons for being in the city were related to taking care of a personal matter she had to take care of and was planning on living that same day, but she changed her plans upon overhearing some citizens talking about the plans of the most dangerous criminal group in the city. What piqued her interest was how this deal was linked to the recent wave of genetically altered snakes and after getting some information about where the criminal group made their deals, she decided to stay to crash their meeting that same night. “I’m giving you a chance to surrender. What happens next depends on what you decide to do.”
The leader of the criminal group and his two men chose to fight instead, quickly launching an attack on their impromptu guest who overpowered them with ease thanks to the powers of the Tantu Totem, which granted the strength, speed and instincts of any animal she needed. The only one who didn’t intervene in the fight was Sir Viperfang, who instead picked up the briefcase and the cage before trying to leave the warehouse. He had experience fighting and knew how to defend himself but was also smart enough to know when he was outmatched and Vixen was clearly a fight he couldn’t win. Just as he almost left, one of the goons pointed in his direction, causing Vixen to notice that he was trying to escape.
“Hey! Stop!” The short-haired heroine said before starting to pursue him. Sir Viperfang only thought about not being caught and kept running as fast as he could, struggling to think where to go next and hoping Vixen didn’t catch him. Of course, thanks to her Tantu Totem, she could gain the same speed as some of the fastest animals on Earth. The only time she stopped was when Sir Viperfang threw the cage with Diamond Snake in her direction, causing her to catch it and check that the colorful reptile was unharmed. That brief pause gave him a few more seconds of advantage, but it still wasn’t enough as the chase continued until they stopped in an alley with a dead end. “There’s nowhere left to run. Surrender now and maybe I’ll go easy on you.”
She was giving him a chance to surrender and while Sir Viperfang had admitted earlier that the short-haired heroine outmatched him, walking away without a fight just wasn’t in his nature. With a subtle movement, he lowered the briefcase, feigning surrender, but as she let her guard down, he reached for his cane, an elegant crafted weapon he never traveled without, and lunged at her in a surprise attack. “I don’t know how you do things here, but in England, we don’t back down,” he declared while striking her with a quick swing of his cane. Even though the British man managed to land a few hits, this barely affected Vixen, who continued with her attacks and ended the battle by holding him by the right side of his head and throwing him towards a brick wall, causing a small crack to appear on it upon impact.
“I won’t say it again, surrender and come with me,” she said as he tried to get up from the floor, not wanting his first deal in the country to end like this yet, not sure about how he could escape from this. Vixen won the match, had him trapped and wouldn’t give him another chance. It seemed that this was it, but before Sir Viperfang could accept defeat, his helmet sensed again that someone was with them. This time, it wasn’t a person, but someone that he believed could get him out of this situation. “Now get up an-”
She fell before finishing what she was saying and as she looked at her legs, Vixen discovered that the snake the British man was trying to sell had sneaked out of his cage. While it was unsure if he was this close to her because of an interest he had related to her or because he felt safer with the short-haired heroine remained a mystery, but Sir Viperfang didn’t care which one was as the colorful reptile’s presence was all he needed to change things in his favor.
“Diamond Snake!” He said while moving his hands up, a signal that all his genetically modified snakes knew what it meant. In a matter of seconds, Diamond Snake coiled Vixen tightly, incapacitating the heroine in the process. There still was the chance of her breaking free as all she had to do was using the Tantu Totem again to give her the strength of an animal that was stronger than the colorful snake’s grip, but she wasn’t prepared to see the other ability he had as while she looked back at his head, she noticed that his eyes changed to the most tantalizing swirls of blue, cyan and orange.
“What the…” one glance at those rings of colors was all it took for Vixen to start to feel dazed. Just by looking at the creature, it was obvious that it was one of the snakes that Sir Viperfang genetically altered, but what she didn’t expect was that he had another ability apart from having a body made of gems. His eyes were unlike anything she had seen before, they were enchanting and hypnotic and the more she looked at the bright colors, the more she forgot about what she was doing there.
This was also a surprise for the British man, not expecting the creature he considered dimwitted to prove to be of any use to him and yet, Diamond Snake had just proved him wrong. He subdued the short-haired heroine and was using his own special ability against her. His hypnotic eyes shimmered, guiding Vixen to go deeper into trance and that combined with the soft and gentle pressure of his coils just made this more enjoyable for her. Watching at her smile and how her eyes started to mirror those same rings of colors that sent her to that nice state of bliss sparked an idea on Sir Viperfang’s mind. He carefully got up from the floor and approached the entrancing Vixen as he pointed at her with his cane.
“Want to know why I decided to call myself Sir Viperfang? Two reasons: I’ve always wanted to become a Sir or Lord and I possess the ability to command snakes,” he may have lost the battle with Vixen, but thanks to Diamond Snake’s unexpected assistance, the tide had clearly turned in his favor. The heroine was at the mercy of the colorful reptile and as Sir Viperfang used his cane to give the snake he was planning to sell to give another order, Diamond Snake responded by tightening his coils slightly and moved his head closer to Vixen’s gaze. “Keep looking into his eyes. Let everything else fade away…and listen to me as I guide you deeper into that state I know you enjoy.”
He had experience dealing with these types of snakes, thanks to some clients in his native England requesting to get a few hypnotic snakes for their shows and as he had to train them, the British man knew what to say. His voice was beginning to have a big impact in her mind, persuading her to do as he told by forgetting about anything that wasn’t the entrancing eyes of the snake made of gems or his voice. The world beyond that no longer mattered and while part of her continued to fight back against this blissful feeling, she didn’t have the strength enough to look away, break free from the coils or ignore what Sir Viperfang was saying.
He gave her a moment to sit with those new thoughts, letting the snake’s eyes gently remind her about what she “truly” wanted and what mattered the most now. Vixen was still aware about her interest in interrupting the deal, but she was not sure about the rest. The villain with the snake motif soon took advantage of that, letting her think that this was something she always wanted, to be guided into that calm state and letting someone take control over her.
“Now, Ms. McCabe, I want you to stop fighting completely. Submit to me, let me guide you…and embrace those new thoughts in your mind,” the British man spoke with a calm yet dominant tone, showing her who was in charge while maintaining the elegant tone he always used. He also gave Diamond Snake the signal to move upward, allowing him to meet Vixen’s gaze directly. There was still a flicker of resistance within her and she even made one final attempt to break free from the serpent’s embrace, but this didn’t work and as her body finally stopped moving, she accepted what she wanted now: submit.
As Diamond Snake slid his head away, repositioning himself at Vixen’s side, Sir Viperfang walked closer to the hypnotized heroine. He still found it difficult to believe that the snake he once considered inferior to the others proved to be far more capable than expected. Thanks to him, the short-haired heroine was completely hypnotized, subdued even and with no intention of waking up from this nice dream. He acknowledged his misjudgment and was considering rewarding Diamond Snake later for helping him, but first, he wanted to check the first hero he had successfully defeated in the country.
“You know, I’m honestly honored that a member of the Justice League decided to interrupt that meeting. I never expected this to happen for my first deal in the country, but thanks to you, I got what I wanted and even more,” Vixen was powerless, lost in a trance she had no desire to be awakened from and at the mercy of this criminal she just met. Sir Viperfang could just take his things and leave, but because he was enjoying the kind of power he had now, he wanted to have one last moment with her before leaving. “Now, I’ll command Diamond Snake to uncoil you. Once he does that, you’ll give me your full attention, responding clearly to all my questions and telling me everything I need to know.”
Vixen gave a slow nod, showing the villain with the snake motif that she had heard and understood his command and as he was pleased to see that, he gave Diamond Snake the order. Within seconds, the coils around her loosened and fell away, but just like he expected, the hypnotized woman didn’t move. She remained standing still, waiting quietly for him to talk and to answer all his questions. He had collected some basic information, but with Vixen under his control, she revealed far more than he anticipated, from names and abilities to the usual locations where her friends and allies could be found. As his interest related to the short-haired heroine grew, Sir Viperfang began asking about her as well, learning what brought her to this city and where she intended to go next.
By the end of their conversation, he left with the briefcase, his new pet and even made the short-haired heroine forget about how their encounter went. Despite the unexpected twists and his meeting ending different from how he imagined, Sir Viperfang was satisfied with how everything unfolded. He got a lot more than he expected and he knew this was only the beginning of a much larger game, one that, in time.
Would once again involve Vixen.
