i'm kinda distracted from the very sad and very sincere emotions by just how delicious those fishy curves are... *gets bonked for thirst*
i also really love how you draw his gills at his chest, going all the way to his back! It's definitely more interesting than the usual gills at the neck thing that most media depict

Hehe, I understand the thirst :D I think my favourite shots are all with the Monroe's back towards us XD
I like to design creatures, and I did quite a lot of mermaids / mermen in the past. I tried different designs. I like little gills on the neck as well. But this time I wanted Monroe to look less human in general. If I put the gills on his neck, it makes lots of things way more difficult regarding to its relationship with the human. And that's also something more easily noticeable when he simply peaks his face out of water.
So I thought it would be better on his chest, almost all around his torso, like regular fishes (the man needs oxygen :D), it allows me to put him quite out of the water more often, showing his shoulders, pecs, etc, which is quite useful to bait humans in the water (and tempt his lover too hehe). Easier to have long conversations with his beloved. He doesn't go fully out of water too often this way, and it's closer to a fish, so a good middle point for me :3
