Proxy: Muerra, Trash Tactician
I got bored one day, and while combing through Bluesky I found an Artist I follow, a Marc Knelsen, who had posted a Proxy he'd made of Alms Collector. It was really pretty! It also got me thinking, given that I've still yet to run an MTG Morning Stream again....
To the surprise of absolutely no one, I really liked Bloomburrow, and especially the introduction of the Raccoon Unit family. Their entire Gimmick is 'Oh hey, I pay Mana and, because I did so, I grant an additional benefit' and it feels pretty powerful to get rolling, if spendy at times. I wanted to familiarize myself a ways more with my Commander, Muerra, and take in more of the world. What better way than to Proxy the Card?
After analysis, I love her (Yep, Muerra is female~) all the more~ Very protective of her crew, a Mentality of 'We fight as one, and that means we'll win at any cost, but I refuse to let people die for that victory.' Also had a time with her shield, since I didn't recognize it as a frying pan, even after I noticed the details. All the brambles and weaved plant matter disguises the look.
I also had to take a couple liberties in other areas while I made her more anthro. She normally doesn't have a tube top, and I did bumble the helmet and gauntlet designs a ways; they're plates and bowls repurposed as armor, which is kinda cool~ Also tweaked the 'Colorless Mana' icon because the single diamond design felt too simple, to me. Finally, I chose to reword the Card Text to make it easier to interpret in places. This includes an explanation of the Expend Keyword, for the Magic Players that go 'Reading the Card should Explain the Card'. A bit weird that it adds another respondable Trigger BEFORE the Casting of the Spell....
(Character Copyright goes to Wizards of the Coast, but feel free to use this Proxy yourselves~)
