This character was a special request from the client. They wanted the black to be as dark and solid as possible, then gradually build up the color value from there, with some red accents on top.
As for his backstory:
Colossus is a fearsome puppet weapon of Archangel Michael. Red and black, faceless, and terrifying even to angels and demons. They broke free from chains in heaven and now rampage like a black hole.
They're pretty interesting indeed. The first character I’ve ever designed using the darkest possible value range, which turned out to be a cool new learning experience for me!
