they're not getting ripped off. if they're at a pawn shop, the store has to make money off of an item to stay in business. c: if they were to sell items to a museum that specializes in that, they'd get their money in full.

I think it's funny how they listen to the appraiser say "It's worth X dollars" and think they're going to get X dollars. Like, they just expect the pawn store to also put it on the shelf for X dollars, and magically make a profit because they sold something for the exact price they paid for it...
You see the episode where they let Chumlee make a purchase, and he buys the little olde time front-of-store ride?
I love that episode. They just keep pausing and playing the suspenseful music, like "Oh boy, kids, here comes the 'Chumlee done fucked up' moment", and he ends up having made a purchase that could sell for 3 times as much.
