I remember when a team mate frantically swam to me, ripped my regulator out and started breathing on it! I thought "sure help yourself!" as I grabbed my octopus and began breathing through that instead. After a few seconds we stood up in the 1.2m pool and let him calm down. A 1.2m deep pool.
I thought he was having a panic attack at the time, but in reflection that's about when the dive team assigned me as their safety diver. I didn't panic, and that was why he did it, to see what I would do.
