These days, anyone old enough to know a wax crayon is for drawing instead of eating has probably had t-shirts made of his work. Not so when I started out as a fanartist. Back in 1978, long before the dinosaurs were wiped out by the ice-age, it was rather a rare thing to see people walking around wearing your work. My first time was the Phoenix Worldcon, when I was sort of the semi-official con artist.
The shirt illustrated, unfortunately, is wishful thinking. Although designed for a t-shirt for the comic that Steve Gallacci and I did -- Tales of Beatrix Farmer. It was submitted to two successive publishers of the book, neither of which thought it worth doing. Well, one day maybe...

He's been on a prolonged downer since his wife, Beverly died... was it two years ago, now? What he seems mainly have done in the meantime is pursue his interest in civil war recreations. He's in a make-believe Wisconsin regiment, The Iron Brigade. Steve seems to be a little more communicative lately, and has recently joined FurAffinity. You could go to his page and ask him what he's up to --

Oh gosh I'd snatch up one of those up quicker then you could wink. Its a small thumbnail but I'm sure its super cute.
There are lots of places online you could make the shirt cheap now days, rather then contracting someone to do it for you. Redbubble is a really good place for that sort of thing. :)

Yeh, I could get it done, but not on the shoestring budget I've got. I'm lucky if I've got twenty bucks at the end of the month. Also, I've nowhere to sell it. I've had to plug the shirt like mad over the internet, but I've no illusions about how effective that would be. The internet serves the already famous or popular well... everyone else is just noise on the line. I'd have to be going to cons to have any chance of selling more than a handful of shirts, and I don't know anywhere I can get airfare for twenty bucks.
