Symbols of DAWN (Octonauts OC Organization)
In a world that belongs to animals, the Octonauts are not alone in their mission.
DAWN (Defenders of Animals, Wayfarers of Nature)
An international and public non-profit organization established in the wake of rising extinction rates and environmental disasters to provide protection, relief and recovery aid to all animals, both feral and sapient, while also assessing and resolving various ecological issues, although the organization will not hesitate to delve into politics and other matters if necessary. Also prioritizes charting and mapping out the natural world for the purposes of education, conservation, and research. DAWN consists of six different branches each headed by their own director/leader, altogether of whom comprise the Board of Directors with the Executive Director serving as the final say on all major decisions.
CLADE (Covert League of Animal Detective Experts)
The starting point for all new inductees to DAWN, this branch investigates and (as much as possible) resolves any mysteries involving animals, including abuse and exploitation, and the environment, such as pollution. CLADE also serves DAWN by screening potential candidates for the other branches based on a rigorous set of physical, mental, and moral guidelines. Not all members eventually move on from this branch, however. In fact, many either stay on board to serve higher positions in CLADE or return with new knowledge and experiences gained from their time in the other divisions.
The Four Winds
The land/air-based rescue division of DAWN. This branch's agents focus on the aid, rescue, exploration, and protection of mainly land-based life and environments, although they will extend their efforts to sea life so long as a crisis does not take place too far from shore. As the name implies, this division comprises of four sub-units, each one a team of animals designated to a specific biome. The North Wind focuses on polar animals; the West Wind, animals in temperate forests; the South Wind, animals living in deserts and other dry non-polar biomes; and the East Wind, jungle animals.
Octonauts
DAWN's sole fully maritime division. Focuses on the aid, rescue, exploration, and protection of mainly marine/water-based life and environments, both on and offshore. In fact, the Octonauts are the only branch of DAWN that extends aid to creatures who live in the open ocean. Once the organization's smallest branch, the Octonauts have expanded exponentially since their founding thanks to the induction of their various Octo-Agents. They have also demonstrated the biggest leaps in technology thanks in no small part to their engineer, a feat that has had several scientists from TRAIL (even the director) requesting numerous chances for collaboration with the Octonauts as of late.
WARN (World Animal Relay Network)
The main intelligence network for DAWN. This branch often serves as the middleman between the other branches while also monitoring various spots around the globe for information that could prove vital for missions. WARN also includes teams of scientists who regularly perform field work to monitor the health of various ecosystems, oftentimes alongside CLADE agents.
TRAIL (Technological Research, Advancement, and Innovation League)
The technical division of DAWN, this branch comprises teams of inventors and engineers who craft the various devices and gear used by the other branches. They also perform regular upkeep on the other branches' modes of transportation, ensuring the vehicles remain shipshape as well as free of any form of sabotage. TRAIL also constitutes DAWN's main medical branch, boasting some of the best experts in the health sciences along with various breakthroughs in medicine and other related fields.
GAMMA (Guardians Against Mistreatment and Manipulation of Animals)
The black ops division of DAWN. Focused on the infiltration and dismantling of illegal operations centered around animals, including fights and exotic trade, this branch's forces are usually reserved for missions considered too dangerous for the other branches to tackle. This branch is known for selectlively taking in criminals actively seeking to redeem themselves and avoid recidivism and putting these individuals through rigorous evaluation and effective therapy in addition to training. In recent decades, GAMMA has suffered some serious blows, namely the loss of its previous director as well as one of its squadrons during a mission gone wrong against DAWN's most prominent enemy, Ambrosia.
Only time will tell if GAMMA (or the rest of DAWN for that matter) can stay firm against the challenges ahead.
Note: The CLADE and Octonauts logos I essentially traced since if it ain't broke, don't fix. Once again, the Symmetric Ruler feature proved to be my best friend on so many of these things, especially TRAIL's logo.
Disclaimer: The Octonauts belong to Meomi and CBeebies, CLADE belongs to Gabe Pulliam, and the North Wind belongs to Tom McGarth and DreamWorks Animation. Everything else is my own creation.
Don't forget to hit me up on Ko-Fi for commissions!
