Even without the roaring engines of the racing cars running through the track, the Edith Mineral Speedway was anything but peaceful. This was probably the most intense job you’ve ever had—although still preferable to the hell of minimum wage service.

When you first heard of an open assistant position for Coyote Motors’ current star drag racer, you thought it would be a piece of cake. What would a racer even need in the first place beyond the usual coffee and snacks in between races? Surely, no avalanche of emails to read or meetings to schedule! Just standing next to them and oblige the smallest of requests.

Most drag racers were incredibly staunch and focused on their profession; to the point they barely interacted with anyone when the cameras were off. A sport that required someone to go at hundreds of kilometers per hour with the risk of crashing and being crushed inside of a flaming iron maiden would surely turn anyone involved with it into hardened men with iron walls around them.

Surely.
