Aroglydath the Elder
Gender: Male
Background: Aroglydarth is seen as a strange eccentric but otherwise harmless and kind old coot of a shadow dragon who lives on the outskirts of the city by himself, settled into a cabin in the mountains. He a craftsman by trade and will fix anything somebody brings him, but he's mainly known for his elaborate shows. He comes down from the mountains regularly and set up shadow-shows using his element to animate Shadows into characters and tells stories with them to teach and entertain the children.
Despite being called "The Elder" Aroglydath is not actually that old, but he doesn't bother correcting people over it. The truth is has a secret he does not want anyone else to know; Arogydath is a Dragon-Werewolf (except Wolves don't exist in this world)
He is afflicted with a curse, like a disease on his own elemental power and has been this way since he was a teenager. When his curse is active his body will warp into a monster unlike anything seen in the natural world and his element bursts forth from his body acting like it's own wild beast blindly attacking anything within reach. Each transformation has taken a toll on his body, but he has gotten to a point through bitter work where he can control his element for a couple hours at a time, allowing him to perform his Shadow-shows, but he has to be extra careful that he doesn't over exert himself or he could lose control completley and once he hits his breaking point the curse takes over.
The Elemental Beast Curse was not formed in nature but created by the Ancient Valkirtani Empire. Originally it was intended to create stronger Tannin Slaves who are unable to complain, turning them into domestic beasts of burden. That experiment was considered a failure as the test subjects were driven into feral madness. The Experiment was then reopened later as Tannin rebels first started to develop their elemental powers. The Valkirtani believed releasing infected Tannin as a Bio-weapons could help counter the Tannin's new powers, but it wasn't as effective of a strategy as they would have liked, but their virus persisted and continued into the modern era. There are not many Cursed Dragons around, since they are killed as soon as they are discovered, otherwise they could destroy an entire ecosystem on their own in a matter of weeks but every-so often you hear rumors of feral dragon attacks.
Personality: Arogydath is well aware that he is a monster that shouldn't exist, and he believes it might be better if he didn't exist at all so he can't hurt anyone. If he met anyone else with his curse he would reasonably say death is a mercy to them and to everyone else, it's too dangerous to let them go free where they could hurt or infect another dragon...but perhaps slightly selfishly he can't let himself die just yet holding out for a chance of a cure, and practicing self discipline to try to control his curse.
He has a passion for his crafts, both building things and telling stories. Even if there is no cure for his disease he wants to leave behind a memory of making dragon rather than a legacy of being a monster.
Strengths: Claw-made Craftsworks, Storytelling, Fine tuned Shadow-play
Weaknesses: Depression, Secretive, Cursed
Powers: Shadow, Cursed Dragon-Beast transformation
Stats
Elemental Energy: 10/10
Partly because of his curse he has an overabundance of elemental energy at his disposal.
Elemental Control: 4/10
He has very poor control over his element due to his curse. With a great deal of personal training, he has managed to learned how to keep his power under wraps and can make complex shadow shapes for shadow shows but he can't do things like lift heavy objects.
Intelligence: 7/10
While not actually being very old he plays the role of the wise old mentor very well. Part of it is faking it, the other part is actually knowing what he's talking about from a number of personal experiences.
Combat Ability: 3/10
He is not very physically strong in his normal dragon form as a consequence of his curse transformation taxing his body heavily.
