I generally like to just hang them on the wall as art pieces, but I've worn a few of them at events, and the ones I've been making are totally wearable. They probably won't hold up to heavy use though since it's just cardboard. I made a group of 12 wearable ones for a lil theater show a few months back and they were a hit :)
