So it didn't take that long when somebody noticed a change in my style over last 2 years and classic accussations came - the trace, the AI, name it. So lets go into the fun step by step I love to do! It is shortened to just 6 main steps, but it has few inbetweens normally, but it is for general overview how I draw
1) Sketch. It his rough sketch which consists of circles and curves. basically what you want to do is do circles for joints and head, I do one extra for belly, in next step you would see why I do that
2) Raw shape. You use and change a bit, based on proportion the rough shape of body, you don't need to be fancy about yet. The circle on belly actually helps with proportion between torso and hips as you can see
3) Rough sketch. Now you want to actually add the things which defines your character. In case of Lianna it is her iconic collar fur and fluffy cheeks
4) Lineart. Now you take your time to actually do a clean lineart, add the details which aren't in the rough sketch. Basically you do the heavy lifting in this step
5) Color. For us lazy digital artist we select the space inside the lineart, make the "base color" (usually grey) and lock the pixels. From that you color your character in a way they are meant to.
6) Shading and Lighting. Now as I am terrible with coloring shades I actually use a feature of CLIP Studio (which I use) where I make extra layer, create mask outside selection (which is the layer with color) and I configure it to multiply. Now I don't have to care about colors they will adjust based on the color of the color layer. You still need to do lighting/shading which aren't just shades of the color, but this takes maybe 80% of the load off of me. Warning - this is good for cell shading, but for actual shading I don't recommend this method
And here you have it! New art of Lianna, beach ready
