Another magnificent work by the very talented SciFi/Blender artist
Aidelank.
This image is a direct continuation of the first commission that Aidenlank created for me, and I plan to write a short story that will likely be followed by one or two more images:

Mission logbook Commander Steppen!
Six days ago, the long-range sensors of the Pegasus picked up an alien signal which, according to the SPI's assessment, indicated an intelligent origin.
The source was located on the third planet of a system in the B33HN cluster.
The ship's computer initiated an automatic course correction and brought the Pegasus's command staff out of cryogenic sleep.
The Pegasus itself has now entered a geostationary orbit near the planet's ring to load material for the main drive.
About two hours ago, Science Officer Embla, Chief Engineer Sandur and I landed on the planet's surface with the Argus landing craft to investigate the source of the signal.
What we found exceeded our wildest expectations...
At the foot of a steep, icy rock formation, we located a huge opening that is clearly of artificial origin:
A monumental staircase made of smooth stone leads to a 50-metre-high archway flanked on the left and right by colossal statues. These busts resemble our own species in their equine features - strange enough to recognise at first glance that they must be of extraterrestrial origin and yet strangely familiar...
The faces of these beings, who, in my personal opinion, could be the builders of this place, continue in further reliefs around the entrance. Even directly at the entrance to the archway, a stylised head of these beings rises from smoothly polished rock on a pedestal that seems almost too delicate to support the entire weight of the structure - and yet it has survived here unscathed all this time.
It is difficult to tell from the appearance alone whether the entire rock mass was once a large temple and is now largely hidden under the ice...
The age of the structure is also difficult to determine at this point. However, given the silicate deposits and the degree of weathering erosion on the rock layers examined, Embla and the SPI believe that the age of the structure must be estimated at at least 30,000 years...
The entrance itself leads down a long ramp deep into a dark underground.
We sent an exploration drone into this passage, but lost contact with it after about two minutes. However, the last data sent did not indicate unusual radiation or any form of mechanical or biological activity. Only the signal continues to be transmitted into space at regular intervals from the depths of this complex.
I have instructed Commander Nyx to send us two small scout shuttles with QMC robots and additional research equipment to the surface.
Embla, Sandur and I are preparing to enter the interior of the temple together with four lightly armed QMCs.
Perhaps the next few hours will determine the scientific paradigm of the next millennia... and our place in the universe.
