Xin began to open his eyes, he soon realized that he was laying on soft grass. He soon sat up and looked around him, to his surprise he was in a forest. Xin soon stood up, and after checking his belongings to see if anything was missing, he could not find the pendant he was given. He searched himself franticly for it, but it was in vain, as it was not with him.
Xin then looked around him and sighed, as he had no sense of direction in the middle of a forest that he did not recognize. He began to walk a random direction, that his instincts told him to walk towards, he felt that there was something of interest in that direction. Within a few hours he was out of the forest and in front of the village that he was knocked out at.
He rushed his way into the village, as he had to find Cyrus and tell him that the pendant was stolen, he soon saw a large crowd of people running the opposite direction as him, and entering their homes and shops, locking their doors behind them. He knew that was not a good sign, but he also knew that he was heading the right direction. He began to sprint the same direction he saw the people running from, and what he saw made him stop in his tracks.
Xin was filled with awe, as he saw one of the rarest sights to be seen. a SS class hunter on his paws and knees, bloody and weapon away from him. The same silhouette as before was standing above him, he didn't know what it was, but it held the pendant. Xin felt a growl rising from his throat, as he pulled his sword from its sheathe, he then waved one paw over the blade, setting it ablaze.
The creature saw him, it's bright yellow eyes, that only looked like slits shot up from where he couldn’t see them before, and was staring directly at him as he pointed his flaming blade at the beast, and positioning his foot paws for a more powerful swing.
"Bring it on!" Xin yelled with as much power as he could. But soon realized his mistake.
The creature was already in front of him within the instant, and soon he saw himself flying backwards. Xin then worked with his weights in his clothing, and twisted himself onto his feet to save himself from falling. The creature was no longer in sight, he looked around himself, and soon found the creature, it took the form of a pitch black Cyrus with glowing yellow eyes, and soon had picked up his lance. He knew something was wrong as he could feel the power of the creature rising when it picked up the lance.
The creature then slipped on Cyrus's pendant, and disappeared. Still in a ready stance, Xin looked around himself and was soon surprised by the shadow from underneath, it had not disappeared, but sunk into the ground instantly. He narrowly avoided the lance firing up at him from underground. Xin then stabbed his blade into the ground, and heard shrieking, he finally hit it. The creature left the pendant and the lance behind as it scurried away, leaving black blood stained grass behind it as it left. Xin was slightly dumbfounded by the black blood that it left behind, he then remembered that Cyrus was still there, and injured.
Xin then sheathed his sword as he turned and ran toward Cyrus, Whom was standing now, all of the blood on his clothes were on his front side, mostly around his chest.
"Are… you okay?" Xin asked him as he arrived beside Cyrus.
"Fine… the damage is mostly internal… I refuse to die to the likes of him…" Cyrus said, he had been bleeding from his mouth as well Xin realized as he finally got a look of Cyrus's face, his chin fur was stained with his own blood, mixed with black blood. "I hit him well too."
"Wanna tell me what that thing was? and why it was stealing your pendant?" Xin said in a worried tone, that made Cyrus stare at him for a moment.
"If you must know, that was my old partner." This confession made Xin jump.
"Your old partner?" He repeated to Cyrus.
"Yes, we were both A class Hunters when his hunger for the power of SS class hunters made him begin to experiment spells on himself." Cyrus soon sat down in the multi-colored blood stained grass, and took a deep breath, obviously already healing up well. "Our final mission together was our A Class Test. He requested the mission himself to prove us. But his true intention was something far greater than becoming an S class hunter."
Xin decided to sit down with Cyrus, he wanted to hear this story now.
"He managed to find the location of the Necronomicon, and kept it as a secret until we found it. It was a foul book, he opened the book, and began to chant from what was inside of it, and soon, he absorbed it. and he slowly shifted into what he is now. If he isn't killed, he will absorb the pendant too, which was what the guild made, it holds his true power within it from before he was the creature. Xin, I want you to wear that pendant, and when it absorbs into your body, you will understand how close I was to him, and his sword techniques." Cyrus said to Xin, now showing a smile. "Think of it as a gift. I'm going to have to hunt him down."
"I'm going with you, it's my mission too!" Xin stated as he jumped to his feet.
"We may die." Cyrus said as he pulled his lance from the ground, and tossed the pendant to Xin, who caught the pendant.
"I'll die as a swordsmen, not instead of a coward." Xin stated, which made Cyrus look at Xin in a way that made him feel like Cyrus trusted him now, he saw his old partner in Xin, and it brought a tear to his eye.
"Very well then, we'll kill this beast together." Cyrus said as he lead Xin towards the forest.
They began to wander the forest, Cyrus in the lead. He lead Xin to a small clearing, where the shadow stood, waiting for them, expecting them to try and finish it. Cyrus positioned his foot paws and grasped his lance with both paws, pointing his blade at the creature. Xin in the same moment, was unsheathing his sword, and setting it ablaze again, pointing his blade at the creature, only holding the blade with one paw.
soon the creature made a loud screech, that created a shockwave, firing upon them, Xin felt himself sliding on the ground, and as he looked over at Cyrus, whom was not budging the slightest bit, he was giving the beast a cold stare, that would pierce even Xin's soul and fill him with discomfort.
"I won't stand for this any longer. I will win this fight Silver!" Cyrus cried, as he launched himself off the ground, towards the Beast.
Cyrus swung his lance Horizontally at the Beast, whom only sunk into the ground and appeared behind him, Xin began to sprint towards them, the creature grabbed Cyrus and flung him at Xin, whom lowered his blade as to not stab his new partner. Cyrus and Xin flung back, and landed hard on the ground, Cyrus rolling off of Xin and far onto the ground. As Xin looked at the direction of where he last saw the beast, it was gone, but he saw Cyrus's lance stabbed into the ground, it was soon clear that they only stopped because of Cyrus trying to stop them.
He turned and saw the beast above Cyrus whom was just standing. Cyrus saw the look on Xin's face, and rolled forward as to avoid a powerful vertical strike that soon stabbed deep into the ground. Xin then rolled towards the lance, and grasped the lance, throwing it at Cyrus, who caught the lance, he then twisted and stabbed at the beast with it, he had successfully hit the beast this time.
The beast made another screech that made Cyrus jump back behind Xin, now feeling a large pain in his chest, the pendant was glowing bright now, and sinking into him. Cyrus and Xin both began to think the same thing, as Cyrus landed behind him. Cyrus began to hold his lance near the blade, Xin then jumped and made a half flip as Cyrus soon swung the blunt end of his lance at Xin, Whom placed his foot paws in the way of the blow, and was soon launched by Cyrus.
Xin was being shot faster than arrows could be at the beast. Soon Xin Had stabbed his blade deep into the beast, his blade now stuck in the tree behind it. The beast cried as it felt the pain of both being stabbed by a burning blade, and the fire from the blade, Cyrus had been rushing their direction, Xin ducked as Cyrus made a powerful stab at the beast, impaling it, as the finishing blow to the beast, as it began to dissipate.
After the beast had completely disappeared, there was nothing left behind it. Cyrus and Xin both took a seat on the grass next to each other. Resting from the powerful beast's blows, they did not want to take a new mission for a while. When nightfall came, they were both heading back to Xin's camp.
"How was that for your first SS rank mission Xin?" Cyrus said as he smiled, they both decided to wake the mountain path this time.
"It was fun, but…" Xin stopped in his track, as did Cyrus, he turned to look at Xin.
"Well…" Xin then blushed. "Did… he really have these feelings for you?"
Cyrus giggled and began to continue on the path.
"Hey! Wait! Did he?!" Xin said as he watched Cyrus walk.
"I think those might be your own, I don't recall any feelings for me." Cyrus said as he soon heard Xin catch up with him and stay next to him as they walked.
"Well then, would you like to, I dunno… Bathe together tomorrow?" Xin said as his blush grew slightly brighter, and a smile appeared on his face.
"Well I guess since I ruined your bath, I guess I owe you that much." Cyrus said as he looked over at the blushing Xin and gave him a smile.
"Great! race you there!" Xin then began to dash off ahead of Cyrus.
"Hey! wait up! I don't know the way there!" Cyrus said as he began to run after Xin.
