While this isn't of a specific battle they could have, Rong'Bok is Rahtinah's teacher, and effectively a father figure. However, he abandoned her and noted how she was too weak. While she willingly, and gladly, helps out Taiga and company, Rahtinah both wants and fears finding her master.

She will eventually find out that Rong'Bok was one of the ones who attacked Black Maw with Zumina, complicating her feelings even more.

Rong'Bok, despite of whatever he does, cares deeply for his student, but needed to defeat her to ensure she wouldn't be a part of the Black Maw attack. As for why Rong even aided in the attack... Skubasti found out about his strength eventually, but Rong'Bok, more than anything, wanted a purpose. He spent his life getting stronger and training and raising Rahtinah, but he felt he was without purpose, and felt that, maybe, he would find it fighting for a purpose much bigger than himself.

He didn't suspect Rahtinah being a potential threat, or finding her own purpose. He knows why Skubasti is doing what he does and stands by him, and knows Rahtinah made her own choice. But could either of them have made a mistake?
