Drachetto really wanted to see how he would look standing atop an inferior, pathetic creature, to understand which pose would appear the most majestic and fitting.
And what better way than to find a large mirror and spend hours and hours striking poses?
And what better choice of inferior and pathetic creature than a small kobold, one the dragon could use in any way he pleased?
Those hours of practice in front of the mirror served a double purpose: to display the majesty of a dragon like Drachetto, and at the same time to teach Snuk the proper position of a kobold: pathetic, submissive, weak, and crushed beneath enormous paws, at the service of the will of the greater and stronger (in Snuk's case, practically anyone)
