So i have this horse trough bin thing from the farm store that i use as a pond to travel to events with. I had grown tired of the plain black that it was so i made it look less like crap. especially considering NONE of my floating plants took off this year at all. guess it is the curse of having everything else do well. but yeah no water hyancith or water lettuce or parrot feather or even duckweed. Maybe people can help me steal some marginals while i am there or something. but i have wanted to make the bin look nicer for a while now. I used self stick tiles for the interior border. I had to cut them up and take just the part of the border i wanted from the tiles themselves. i had cut the tiles up into all the borders that had but for some reason while these stuck Beautifully the res was a bitch and i dropped the idea and will do something else later. the outside was a huge roll of black marble contact paper that fought me hard to go on. seems to be sticking quite well right now. and it looks fine. the flash made the outside and inside look very different but the marble look is a lot less outstanding and more subtle in reality.
Also toying with a new fountain head since i am fairly sure i will never see my lion head again... and it was a gift from Kyr...
Oh and that is my art desk behind it
and it is sitting on a folded futon mattress. the blue tin next to it is one of those big popcorn tins. if this helps size it at all.

It should only be another week or so before the snails hatch out, and since I'm gonna have to ship them with live plants anyway (so I can put "Live Plants" on the box and avoid all that complicated stuff that goes along with shipping critters), and since I just happen to have a (semi-massive) overage of hyacinths, I could send some along. I'd also be willing to part with a slice of water lily rhizome, if you're interested.
same place i always do. Rain collection and local water supplies. same set up every single year. but this year we had a long rainy season with almost no sun and then nothing but insane sun. i am guessing it was that that did them in. that has been the only real change. a lot more days this last month and half of 9 or 10 on the UV range.
