Vepaphen is an umbra matriarch, essentially a queen bee for her species. She runs the colony, expands the nest, and provides all the eggs which will grow into loyal shadow creatures.
She’s a fearsome beast, being highly protective of her eggs, of her colony, and of her partners. She’s not one to go out of her way looking for conflict, and would in fact rather avoid it if possible, but the smallest threat towards anything or anyone she has claimed as her own will be swiftly met with merciless wrath.
She’s still soft at heart, however. No amount of ruthlessness in her demeanor will change how she’s a loving partner, how she loves to bask in the sun and feel its warmth, how she spends much of her time fretting over her young in the nursery.
She is maternal and affectionate… with just a hint of ferocity on the side.
Vepaphen was born from a hodgepodge of inspirations: Femuto from 2014 Godzilla, centipedes, social insect species, and earwigs to name a few!
