Training his engineer. [ARt DxM8 ]
Roe Acquired a worker for his ship, she needs testing to see if she is capable at what she claims to do.

Roe wandered from the landing platform to the markets.
He signed in as a potential employer, here they didn't sell good, but services. Here all various alien species were looking for work, other businesses were looking for professionals.
He calmly wandered over to a console, bathed in the stares of others, he was quite different. Some unique visible implants, hence we was looking for a professional on them, and other things.
Softly frustrated he scrolled through the job seekers, one flashy introduction after another, he was annoyed at the people before he even met them. He'd rather have a cool headed quiet sort. And no one within his budget had all the skill she needed. Or the experience.
He casually listened with half an ear to other people proudly explaining what they do, what they can do and what they are good at. He felt disgusted to even be there, having to go and look for help, feel helpless at doing everything himself. Swallowing his pride...
"How may i be of service? Not finding someone suitable for you Sir?" A Sickly sweet well trained customer service voice sang behind him. Roe took a few moment before collecting himself.
His attention still to the console, scrolling through applicants. "I need someone experienced with ship- and engine-maintenance. Nano engines and machines, hydraulics, medicine, biology and various crystal and porcelain alloys."
"Hmm." The assistant thoughtfully hummed. "About your implants i take it? And general ship and ship maintenance?" He continued.
Roe raised an eyebrow, this assistant had sharp eyes and a sharp mind. "That, and they need to be trustworthy. I don't have enough to employ a large team I'd really need." Roe responded, finally turning to the customer servant.
The assistant inspected some names and lists in his heads-up display, built into his eyeball. "We.. did have such a candidate.. Young, a bit hot-headed but experienced and skilled. But a group of slavers forced them onto their ship, didn't even fill their contract for employment on a foreign ship with dubious legalities...." His well trained facade broke a bit, looking ever so slightly concerned.
"Give me the ships name, ID and direction, and how long ago it departed. I will find your applicant and interview them in-case they are suitable." Roe logged out from the terminal.
"If.. If you can find them and return safely, we'll have a bounty for you... Or a discount on our insurance for new workers." The assistant spoke as he shared the data with Roe.
If nothing else, this chase would be a fun distraction, he always enjoyed hunting down slavers, specially now as they had kidnapped an engineer he was interested in.

Sitting in a chair with mechanical braces, keeping her in place she hissed at the slaver who patted her head and spoke some bullshit about that she'd be the key to their victory.
The slaver boss walked out of the cockpit where she was tied up. She watched the pilot look concerned at his instruments, she could glean from her poor point of view that the mass curves were ever so slightly off, like a small vessel had entered their hyperspace bubble.
"Looking concerned?" She inquired the pilot of the space ship.
"Something has entered out hyperspace bubble, but i didn't see any Viper stalker ships.." The pilot sounded concerned, as eh prepared to drop out of super cruise.
She didn't say anything. A Viper Stalker was a special type of small vessel that was sometime used to stalk and track other vessels, its shape alone was difficult to see on regular radar and LIDAR. Plus powerful scanners.
-
She vessel finally dropped out of the super cruise, shuddering a little as its breaking thrusters ignited. She listened quietly to the pilot declare their approach to a nearby station, she calculated they were not too far. Apparently the pilot was agitated about something, she didn't hear what as he had an audio muffler activated, anyone around the pilot couldn't easily make out what he said, but was perfectly clear to the recipient.
The pilot let out a defeated sigh. "Fucking Queues."
Rose, an engineer, whom was the captive just raised an eyebrow, she was slightly curious about the uninvited vessel, and why the pilot was visibly stressed. She watched the lights in the cockpit flicker ever so slightly, but no alarms of any kind. None that she could at least notice.
She watched the pilot maneuver the space ship into correct spot in orbit for queueing. Pilot activated autopilot.
The lights flickered, turned off, she gasped in surprised as the heard the pilot let out a muffled scream. Emergency lights lit up the cockpit. She watched the back of some winged alien, the white arms of the wings glinted in the faint white light of the emergency lamps. The yellowish orange blades, or Light Feathers as some called, made of superlight crystals held in shape with magnetic fields and energy.
The alien was clearly ignoring her, holding the pilot by his neck. "You have an engineer, stolen from a recruitment station, where are they." The alien hissed at the pilot.
Struggling to breathe, the pilot waved vaguely in her direction, diagonally behind the pilots seat and the alien interrogating the pilot. Falling to the cockpit floor with a thunk as the alien dragged him off his chair.
She tried to crawl into the metal chair she was sitting on, but no corners to hide in and the mechanical binds held onto her tightly. The alien turned towards her and approached with a few steps.
The visor stuck to the aliens head turns clear, his yellow eyes shining through. "Engineer, mechanic, bio-mechanical scientist?" The alien directed the question at her.
"I.. uh suppose yes. The did the recruitment station send you?" She responded, with light shake in her voice, slightly concerned about this alien.
"I came to employ you." The alien responded. She let out a short shriek in surprise as the aliens mechanical wings struck the binds around her legs, which popped open. "Or just get you back for a bounty if you can't maintain these wings"
"Ceramic alloy, micromotors. And supporting implants. Yeah, that's what i studied before being expelled from the military." She chuckled and watched closely as her knight in mostly shining wings undid her arm binds.
Rubbing her wrists, the binds were tight. "Do you have a name?" She inquired the alien.
"Roe, Roe Seong, Mercenary, general freelancer." He responded, then turning his attention to the pilot. "Lock all doors, call emergency lockdown, make sure your captain is locked up. Then call the station describing who you have onboard, they'll have a nice bounty for you."
The pilot nodded and crawled back to his chair. "Lets go." Roe spoke to Rose. She agreed and got out form the chair and followed him out from the cockpit. She noticed the door closing behind them, and most other doors were also locked.
They were making their way to the cargo bay of the vessel, where she assumed Roe had snuck inside, ignoring the people behind locked doors banging and screaming. she watched the aliens wings and tail closely. "Where did you get those implants? They don't look like public property, some experimental military technology."
"Sharp eyes." Roe responded shortly. "Put in and experimented on without my consent, so i am doing the best i can with what i got, and that includes finding someone skilled in maintaining them."
They entered the cargo pay, she noticed a suspicious hole in the back, atmosphere held in by the ships own energy fields. "I take it that's how you got in." she commented as they made their way down the stairs to the cargo bay floor. Several layers with cargo and shuttle storage. This slaver vessel was made for hauling medium sized cargo, stealthily and quickly. but had been reconstructed to smuggle people.
*
Finally reached and docked at the recruitment station. The duo returned to the center for work opportunities.
"Ah Rose!" The station and service managed shouted. "Leaving the station unannounced for work opportunities are against the regu-"
"I'm taking her." Roe interrupted their speech."
"but"
"I am taking her, employing her. Either with your permission, or without." Roe continued, sternly.
The assistant noted the stern voice and imposing posture, not wanting to antagonize someone who did help them retrieving an asset and making sure the slavers weren't causing more issues. "Very well, we shall look over the contract and get her transferred to your vessel."
*
Roe stood by the cargo bay for his vessel, watching them drive in his new Engineers stuff and equipment onboard.
"I've reserved you a room." He spoke to Rose, "Tho any private and hygienic necessities you'll have to make an order requisition, I do not know what you Humans need. But please don't bankrupt me."
She stopped in front of Roe, looking at him with a stern look. "Us humans?" She tapped her foot.
"I'll let you know mister dinosaur," She berated playfully. "I'll make sure you are on your best behavior, your ship needs serious cleaning, and some decoration, new couch too!"
Roe chuckled and gently pushed his new engineer into his ship. "Yes ma'am." He laughed.
