Ask Movie Slate - Episode 269 - Suburban Commando
Today's Movie Slate is brought to you thanks to Reversal Mushroom.
Yeah, yeah, 2009 called and it wants it's meme back.
Isn't it weird this could've been a forgotten movie but then the internet took a hold of that one clip and it became a thing? Which is curious because outside of that, the movie's actually really bland. I wish I could say it has a lot of charisma, but sadly it doesn't.
Hulk Hogan and Christopher Lloyd may be a pretty good comedic duo, and I say that from the bottom of my heart, but they have nothing to work with. Why setting this space adventure in the middle of suburbia?
Absolute waste. I say check the clips of the highlights on YouTube and save yourself some time.

You'd think there'd be tons of successful actor/wrestlers out there, given the amount of showmanship you need to demonstrate in the ring, but good ol' Dwayne is about the only one to have any actual charisma (and financial success), even though so many others have tried.
*goes on a brief tangent about The Rock being one of only two good things in the Doom movie*
As for this film, yeah, I had actually seen it and forgotten about it as well, until 'Critic made a meme out of it; but I think I never actually liked Hogan, even in the 80's as a kid, and finding out he was a terrible person later didn't surprise me either. The movie itself is just.. ehhhh. Quite bad, but not totally terrible, as I've seen much worse. It just kinda exists, ya know? And nothing but the aforementioned meme would be lost if it ceased to be.
Anyways, them's my two bottlecaps on this topic!
