What I do is use a big, chunky brush, and get a rough silhouette going, then cut away at it with an eraser. Both tools are set to around 50% opacity to allow for variance in color/shade/whatever. I start of with big brushes and go down in size for details.

The way I usually go about things is to make a big mess, see what I want within that mess, and pull it out. This way has worked better and faster than scribbling lines because a single stroke of the brush could do the work of 10 or 20 strokes with the pencil tool. It's also much less distracting, visually, to have large splotches of color than to have a lot of squiggles.

oh thats really cool. is pressure sensitivity a must for this to work and what program do you use?

Not a must, I wouldn't think, but it would cut down on a lot of time. I use pressure sensitivity to control both the size and opacity of the brush and eraser, and I use Paint Tool SAI.

its just the tech in my tablet isn't supported by SAI or oC so I'm kinda stuclk. and thanks. do you ever stream? would be nice to see it some time.

Aw, that's unfortunate, sorry. I do stream quite often, try to do one a week. I'm just shitty at promoting it over here, sorry again.
