Normally one regards Thursdays with the same ennui and resignation one would regard August, so this time I decided to make things interesting.
For today's coloured sketch, I am highlighting the wobbegong shark! Part of the family of carpet sharks, the wobbegong's basic duties are to snuggle down into the sandy floor of a reef and lay still pumping water through its gills until some hapless fish swims by and gets immediately eaten. The odd name comes from its place of discovery, Australia, and the Aboriginal word for "shaggy beard". True to their name, the carpet shark family also feature some very wild designs to help them blend in better on the reef floor, with this specific example being the "spotted wobbegong". They are usually not dangerous to humans, but *you* try to keep your temper when some clueless diver accidentally squishes you trying to get their bearings on the sea floor.
Also, that rug really tied the room together.
