“As Sonic lay askew inside the footprint, he felt two shadows cast over him: the shape of a fox's head and the shape of a raccoon. The raccoon in question bent down and gently poked him with a twig. "Strewth! I think he's dead, Tails!" Marine said.
"Nah... just out of breath." Sonic replied.
"What happened, Sonic?" Tails asked. "Are you hurt?"
"I had a small race with Amy... and I decided to be chivalrous and let her win."
"Ha ha ha!" Marine laughed. "I guess Amy stamped out the competition!" She printed her own foot next to Sonic for emphasis. It was smaller than Amy's.
"Want us to pick you up?" Tails asked.
"Nah, I'll pick myself up in a minute. Just takin' it easy." Sonic smiled blissfully.
Tails was disbelieved by his lovestruck expression... while Marine was just confused. "Let's look for more gold, Tails!" Marine grabbed the fox by the wrist and dragged him toward the ocean.”
