Once human again, Demona takes her stuff and runs for the school she works at with. With the risk of a bad incident in the mornings, Demona made sure her work place was only a 30 minute walk away. No need to catch a train, and could call a taxi in the winter. Run down the street, turn the corner, run another block, and she was outside the public school.
It was a fair paying job, and had a pension waiting for her after a few years. The main issue would mainly come from being around so many people and of so many ages. It could become so difficult to get some privacy for Demona to spell. That is why she took a part of work that didn’t demand her to be around children so much. She wasn’t a teacher or part of any real education group. She worked as one of the custodians for the school. She’d often go to a class after everyone had left, and it wasn’t often an emergency would demand she be there. As a result, there were plenty of places to hide should she need to recast the spell and remain human.
When that wasn’t needed and Demona got privacy, it was very tempting to try using these magic spells to ease her work. There were times where something real bad happened in the bathrooms, and not even other custodians wanted to do it. Moments like that were very VERY tempting to try and magic away. Maybe a spell to just make the mess vanish, or even just a spell to help clean stains from a distance; she had to hold herself back from using that at school. She couldn’t risk being seen doing magic, and she couldn’t especially couldn’t be seen as… what she was actually stuck living as.
Maybe after she could stay human, she could use what she learned and to be better at her job. It might even warrant her rising through the ranks. It would be so much easier to hide her magic if she didn’t have to focus on hiding her horrific form all the time. For now, that was only a dream on the winds. One she still would reach for, and someday she would have.
