TRANSCRIPT

Around July 5th, one of our co-workers got their leg pinned down by a dislodged rock. They were able to free him and tend to the leg, but then there was a partial cave-in. We were a ways away from the area when it happened and nobody else got hurt, but we got the rest of the day off.

I spent much of that day trying to do nothing. Just lost in thought trying to process everything. My mind wandered, to anything and everything. But one thing that I did realize, was this asymmetrical clothing we all wore, it looked familiar. It looked like the clothing I saw at the Nest's tower, and what the Black-eyed lady wore.

It might've just been a coincidence, but then again I haven't seen any other Jackals around. So perhaps she is Eltyrian? I contemplated this for a long time, trying to figure out the plausibility. Sure she looked the part, gave me Eltyrian equipment from within an old Eltyrian structure. And even set forth a chain of events that hit STEEL. It makes sense if she was Eltyrian, but if she was, then what? What does that answer for me? Still nothing.

In any case, Emilie saw me lost in my thoughts and asked about it. Didn't know if she was still putting on a face for her cover, but I had to keep mine. I didn't tell her about the Black-eyed lady, I felt it best to keep that one to myself for now. She is too much of an unknown, and everyone else that I did tell, told me to stay away. And I still don't trust X0-C3.

But, I answered Emilie, telling her that I missed home and wanted to be back with my family, safe and sound.

To everyone else around, it was a pretty common sentiment and brushed off. But Emilie knew what I meant to say. Sitting beside me, she said she understood, but that the outer-colonies are a wild and dangerous place. So, how can I be sure that my family is safe?

I said that I would make it so. Whatever it took.

She gave a quick smirk before patting me on the back and walking away. ...Yeah I shouldn't have said that.
