This is Rot, a rottweiler/hound mix. He has always looked so young and people have always said they couldn't believe his age.
Last night i got a call from bfs mom saying he was sprawled out, breathing heavy, and had a large bump right above his male parts. They thought it might be heat stroke, so they poured water all over him and made him drink from their hands (since he wouldn't drink normally) Later that night he started drinking on his own and seemed alright. But then he took a turn for the worst and started acting confused and couldn't walk.
Sadly they had to put Rot down today. The vet said it was heat stroke, but we think it might have been poison or he got hit by a car. As you can see, he always laid in a dug out hole on the side of the house where its cool. Pop even puts water in the holes so they can stay cool, and surely enough when mom looked at the hole it was cool with water on the bottom.
We will never know what really happened, but you will be missed Rot. You were such a sweet boy, even scared of strangers. Not at all like how rottweilers are portrayed. You loved your butt being scratched, right above your tail. You'd do your hound dog howls when you spotted something to chase in the woods or a car would pull up. You'd run so fast when you knew someone was going to give you medicine, like a child running under the bed.
You were a good boy.. i will miss you.
