Oh man. That is absolutely GORGEOUS! I cannot wait to see the finished piece. I absolutely love the idea of this piace and I love how his has roman numerals on his tail! Absolutely fantastic job. Only thing that bothers me a bit is his eye expression, as I think they need to be a bit softer. He looks like he is thinking, "Oh crap! It's only Monday?" XD But that's just my opinion. The eyes are wonderfully drawn though. Other than that, I'm very impressed with this. You did a really great job! :)

Actually I toned down the shading a bit on this drawing mostly because I planned on coloring it. That is sort of why his eyes are like that. In the final color it will be toned back. Believe me I could have gone crazy and drawn in all of the scales(etc...). The roman numerals I'm going to handle like glowing runes. :)

BTW I'm going to try your tutorial when I color. I tend to be piece meal when I color stuff (color an arm fully, then a leg, etc).
