Ouyang Xiang, Design and Thoughts part 2
as for makeup, clothes and other hair acessories,
I kinda wanna go with the vibe of this Ming-Qing depiction of fictionalized Han women's clothing because they resemble more closely to Song women clothes but for the sake of making it be withing the parameters of "historically possible" I decide to not go on fullscale Ming-Qing fictionalized Hanfu ladies' portrait, otherwise I'd be doing a crime to the dynasty my old ancestor founded, Anyways, jokes aside
the makeup, It's a mix mash, taken from the "drunken makeup" with its heavy blushes, pale face foundation, and eyebrow taken from the "teary makeup", I wanted to make each of my Song OCs as distinct as possible, again, that means doing whatever I can to make them stand out in design, something we as modern people might consider "unusual" but is really the sought after look for people back then, I feel like with faces, it's what people tend to notice with each other, Xiang'er definitely purchased a lot of cosmetic items with her material girl life spending
the clothes, when I was planning her, I had to consult this book I bought from one of Taiwan's bookstores, I've been eyeing on it so much and glad to have bought it because it pretty much covered what people of different social status, age and careers worn during the Song dynasty, I was immediately drawn to this image from the book that depicts a Song painting of a lady, possibly a noble, a princess, or a daughter of a rich man, attended to by maids, washing her hands, that IMMEDIATELY clicked with me, I was like "Yes! Yes! THIS IS OUYANG XIANG! THIS IS HER!!" so I based her dress on the image from the book I found, referencing as much historical paintings and art as I could
as for hair combs, I like to imagine that with Xiang'er being this girl that likes shopping and spending, she would've bought endless combs and fashion piece, so it was added,
