Been putting off doing an "official" character sheet for this guy for a while now, but I really should do one cause I love getting art of 'em. I'm not really psycho about artists getting every detail exactly perfect (unlike SOME PEOPLE who I've done commissions for), hell I can't even remember which side his mole is on or draw him consistently myself so this is more for a quick reference than anything carved in stone.
This is just to show his profile, so he's not wearing his glasses.

FANGIRL SCREAM.
Goddamn it I wish I weren't so busy right now. I think I might try my hand at a few traditional pieces while out visiting a fellow FA-er in a few days, so I'm going to keep watching for a refsheet because oh man Elliot would be fun to try out like that. NO PRESSURE THOUGH, REALLY. [giggle]

He's such a simple character I feel a bit silly doing a refsheet at all - he's basically a plain sclater's lemur. No piercings, no glowing bits, no purple and green fur, extra tail, wings, magic; just glasses and a genetic condition so that he's got the female coloring. He usually wears a business suit, he carries a sword-cane, and he's a bit of a sociopath.
That's the beautiful thing about Elliot — pragmatic simplicity. Realism is the underlying aspect that appeals to me most about all your characters. Could you imagine me drawing the eye-candy-raver Furries that are rampant in this fandom? Hell no, man. I'll take the unappreciated misfits and monsters ten times out of ten.
Just look at Lemy (who pretty badly needs a proper revamp at this point); sure, he's a freak of sorts, but he's mundane and generally considered unappealing, especially when compared to the glowy, flowy, fantastical creatures everyone gets poopy pants about.
I'm more fascinated by all the facets of Elliot's personality—his origins, thoughts, tastes, and habits. I'm not sure a refsheet is great for depicting that, but certainly the basics with a well-rounded written profile would do right by me!

It's probably just me not being spectacular at designing characters visually. Like with my fantasy world, i pretty much stick to basic trolls/centaurs/satyrs/etc - I'm better at writing the backstory.
That's why I like Lemy, from what I've read about him. So much furry lit seems to be wish fullfillment, or poorly-written metaphorical tales (aside from the porn, of course). He strikes me as a character in a drama/sci fi story who just happens to be anthropomorphic, not a Furry Character. If that makes any sense.

It totally makes sense to me, and that's definitely the case. I need to start teaching myself a lot more about writing and read a lot more so I can actually write some kind of story. Aside from a couple other supporting characters, Lemy's the only 'anthropomorphic' persona in the storyline, and I think at this point he almost fails to be that, too. I was struck by some blaring similiarities in the upcoming "Rise Of the Planet Of the Apes". :c
I'd say I'm the same with my technical struggles, even if it doesn't look like it. Maybe I don't let loose enough. I don't have a great proclivity for writing, either, though, but I find the ideas are certainly easier to generate and build upon that way. I always wanted to write a story about a modern faun-satyr guy trying to make his way in the real world without being conspicuous but it never was more than an idea in passing. I think I just really fancy the human hybrids, hahah.
Rock on. Whatever you come up with doesn't have to be top-notch concept.org award winning to tickle my brain meats. (Gross.)

I'm looking forward to Rise of the Apes. I love the original movies, and the clips and such I've seen make this look like an interesting take on the story. Funny about you seeing some similarities, that happens to me all the time. It's frustrating! I have ideas independently and then feel like I can't write them because it will look like I'm copying.
I love the hybrids, too, that's why I made the main character of one book I'm hacking away at a satyr! It always bugged me a little that main characters are always humans with critter sidekicks in fantasy novels. It is an interesting writing challenge, and it's more fun for me. Since I doubt I'll ever get published the fun factor is my only motivation!
Keep up with your writing. Even if it's just technical specs for characters or something, it's all good practice. I'd like to read it!
