On a whim this afternoon I took my oven thermometer outside with me and put it on top of a shrub that was in the sun and left it there for thirty minutes or so. I took this picture after bringing it back inside. It was reading 130 Fahrenheit in the sun. This is in Metuchen, New Jersey. Some of you might be able to cope with this but we can't. My power company has already sent me an alert that it is worried that the local (NY, NJ area) electrical grid might not be able to cope with the demands being placed on it and it's only July.
That's it, I'm going to go sit in the basement where at least I won't melt. I'll see you all in October when the pavement resolidifies.
