Wonderful artwork from
faint of Kim as a Druid from Dnd, specifically the subclass Circle of the Shepherd.
Warning: Tragic backstory incoming.
Kim found her calling as a druid later in her life than most. She grew up in a little village, fell in love, became a midwife and healer, got married, and had a son. When her son Elias took sick and subsequently passed away she and her husband buried him under the shade of an oak. Carrying nothing more than the clothes on her back and Elias' favorite stuffed toy Kim wandered off into the forest without a care if she lived or died.
But she could not die. Something inside of her burned to live. The seasons passed, the snows fell and melted away to spring, and for years Kim drifted as if in a fog. All the while the sick and dying animals came to her to pass away at her feet.
"That is all I am good for now. Witness to the dying."
And still the years continued to pass. Kim thinks it was around ten years since Elias died that she stumbled into the Grove of Mourning Voices. The spirits of the forest were drawn to her, much to her dismay. Soon she learned it was because she gave them peace, and she began to look at her healing hands once more. What she saw as grief slowly turned into one last, kind, motherly voice before passing on. It still breaks her heart every time but now she knows the dead rest easy at her stead.
And when the malevolent things come to disturb their eternal rest Kim turns her grief to anger, unleashing those who cannot rest.
