This is a story I'm still preening about. It's about Mateo Cautel, a wolf who's thrust into the position of Alpha when his previous Alpha and some of his packmates are killed by the State, a dog-run government that has a history of running roughshod over the wolf Packs. Cautel takes it upon himself to rally his Pack and the other Packs of the plains to start a civil war and bring about change to their homeland. Will he succeed?
