There countless worlds under the watch and care of The Origin of All, the Original One, the White Alpaca who spat in the eye of nothing to spawn forth a reality with endless iterations shaped by their many hands. Countless characters live across the endless worlds telling endless stories to experience and recount.
More than a fair few of these worlds take life under the BlueDusk realms, and under the musings of myself and
blueythebattlebug. Most have our aspects and reflections and creations as original characters on their own exploration of the pokemon world, or their own take on the plot. Rarely do we take a canon character that was not the PC and make them our own.
Rare, is not Never.
In the quite tourist fed land of Kitakami, the story of the orge is still one locals pass down and hold as a core part of their culture. There, the family of mask makers, a line stretching back to the original mask-maker in that folktale, has grown small. The current patriarch and matriarch are old and grandparents, their children sadly passing, leaving on the two and their two grandkids to continue the legacy.
Carmine, the strong willed eldest daughter of the family, and her half brother Kurran, the meek and reserved younger.
Carmine seeks to make and keep her family and culture proud and strong, a dream she chases at the Blueberry academy, and somewhat counterproductively chases at home with a somewhat antagonistic view of tourist and 'outsiders'
Kurran is more of a dreamer, a lover of folklore and stories and pokemon, one of the few who has heard both sides of the Ogre's story, and empathizes, even relates to them. Often found tinkering away at knickknacks and trinkets and masks for tourists, his dream is to one day be the partner of the Ogre.
Hahaha the dreams of youth...
Who would have thought the Ogre would return in his lifetime? And who could have foreseen it denying him instead for an outsider? And who would think a broken meek child would become something of a dark knight avenger for his shattered dreams?
But, time can mend wounds and hearts, and new bonds with other legends can be made, and old rivals might become lovers.
But those are stories for other days.
So! Meet Kurran. Kurran started with, as many of our ideas do, a random joking about cool art we saw, and just developed into our own take. Kurran's make take on Kieran, making him an OC in the setting in a mostly accurate way. He is a like a lake. Before meeting Bluianna and the whole thing with Ogerpon, he was Quiet. Like a still lake, he was peaceful, calm, largely non-confrontational, and admittedly something of a push over. His sister's force of personality didn't help the matter either. But he was definitely pushed into a change after being rejected by the one he had such fantasies about. While not necessarily the best change, he did become more self assured with some degree of, if forced, self confidence.
What was once a still peaceful lake with a gentle surface and cooling breeze like the Crystal Pool, became more of a stormy turbulent mess of waves and foam and driven rain. Fittingly, he has a rain team.
Interesting to my creative sense, while he did 'bench' his previous team, he didn't do it without warning. He talked to his team, and even the members of his new team were all pokemon who agreed to come with it, either from his own words, or that of his earlier partners.
And of course, art is by the always awesome Lazy. They came up the idea of giving him a raincoat and hoenn-inspired top since he'd be in the thick of the rain as battles went on. Also, some cool Aizen-combing-back-his-hair vibes between his Casual and League looks.
