AUgust, you say? Well, AUstin Dern can get into the gold spirit as well as any other easily-transmuted fellow. So here's a little sketch I put together trying to get a stronger metallic look to things.

The answer, according to a Procreate tip page I have already lost? Include a screen layer over your main color layer with streaks of light and dark on it, and use the smudge tool to smear out the streaks of light so they run along the contours of the shape and the presumed reflections. To that I also added a couple reflective streaks from the luminous pen, yellow tending to white, and ... you know, I think it kind of comes together.

Austin's whole outline is the same color but the underlying colors make it look light or dark, depending.

I think I look good perched on whatever sphere-topped pillar this is. Don't worry, I'm enjoying. I don't do unhappy endings.

The sky being another yellow shade is a touch from Harvey Comics. A book about the publisher pointed out the conscious choice to use yellows and other golden shades for the sky in Richie Rich and ooooooh, yeah, that does make sense, doesn't it?
