B in his second stage, the etched looking smile was meant to look like that.

Shade have wills of their own, minds of their own, and can make their own decisions. They usually follow whom ever's body they're in though.
B, on the other hand, only comes out when Sprink is pretty much either unconscious, or on the verge there of, so he doesn't follow her rules, for she doesn't have any to tell him XD
B's first stage looked more like a winged serpent, while this stage has grown arms and that creepy smile. This stage of B is rather aggressive, like a rattlesnake or a king cobra.
All Shades names are single letters, D, S, R, E, etc. Most names coincide with the type of creature it is. S is a snake, while R is a Rhino, etc. B, on the other hand, his name coincides with who he represents within Sprink, Beelzebub, not a dragon, as he's technically a dragon-like creature.
In this form, if B engulfs Sprink, he possesses her body slightly and transforms her into a dragon-like form (think Devil Trigger in Devil May Cry). It is still able to make her go into a feral form, but for a very short time, it's aggressiveness, making up for this little flaw.
