
An experiment that didn't quite work. I like to paint on matt board of course. I had this little bit of patterned matt board and thought I'd try doing a pic of my kitsune boy, Kabuki on it. I quickly discovered that the board rather repels paint. Ack! But I'm stubborn and finished it anyway. Live and learn:)

I love the picture. I don't think the experiment went bad at all myself. The folds of his kimono show depth very realistically, and the colors jump out due to the texture and color of the board. His face is intense and conveys an intellectual mind examining the situation.
I hate that the board was difficult to work with. I would love to see what you wold do with such an idea if it did not fight you every step of the way. Perhaps some one here would have a suggestion? I am no artist, and would not even hazard a guess of what kind of material would get the same effect without having to do battle with it.
